How much power do I need to drive my Bazooka® Bass Tubes® enclosure?

Who's Got the Power?

The easiest way to plan your power needs for a bass amp is to use a ratio of the power on the front speakers to the power needed for bass response. Typically a system using Bazooka® subwoofers would have a 1 to 2 ratio in a pickup or hatchback and a 1 to 3 ratio in a sedan. For example, if you are using 20 watts of power on your front speakers you would need 40 watts for a pickup or hatchback and 60 watts in a sedan.

  • Front speaker wattage x 2 = Bass amp wattage needed for a pickup or hatchback.

  • Front speaker wattage x 3 = Bass amp wattage needed for a sedan or coupe.

It is always better to have more power than not enough! More damage is done to speakers by under powering a system then having a power surplus. The most important thing is to create a balance between the high frequency output and the bass output, and the above ratios typically work out best with Bazooka® subwoofers.
